Affiliation

This school is a fully residential English Medium school for boys and girls affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi [CBSE]. It consists of classes from I to XII and forms a vital educational limb of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of higher Learning, Prasanthinilayam. The syllabi and textbooks followed at the school are those prescribed and recommended by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

 

Genesis and Inspiration

The Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School was inspired and initiated by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Himself. He is its life and soul, motivation and goal. Under His direct guidance and loving care the school embarked on its mission of moulding young minds on the 15th of June, 1981.

"Character Development with Academic Excellence", has been the governing principle of all endeavours in the school. The school at every step, big or small, is guided by the comprehensive educational philosophy of Bhagawan Baba who emphatically advocates "Education should be for life; not for mere living".

Location

The school is located inside the 'Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Giri' complex of Prasanthi Nilayam and is housed in two magnificent buildings. The imposing building with the facade of enchanting Krishna dancing on the serpent Kaliya houses the teaching and residential quarters for girls from class I to XII and for boys from class I to VII. This building is generally referred to as the Primary School. The palatial building with the sculptured Lord Dakshinamoorty presiding over it is the teaching block for boys from class VIII to XII. The towering edifice to its right is the hostel which lodges all the boys of the Higher Secondary School.

Free Education

The education at the school is completely free of charge. The school does not collect any fees whatsoever from the students. There are no tution fees, no examination fees, no sports fees, no library fee, no laboratory fee.

Character Development

"Character Development with Academic Excellence" has been the guiding principle of the school in all its endeavours since its inception. The school strives to instill into the minds of the students the eternal and universal values of love, service, non-violence, compassion, discipline, truthfulness and the like through various means. The best of them being through personal example of the dedicated band of teachers who serve the students with a missionary zeal to see to it that they blossom in all aspects of human excellence, be it physical, intellectual, emotional, psychic or spiritual. To see the performance of the school in this aspect one must observe a student of the school - his discipline, his morality and his humility.

Academic Excellence

While a lot of emphasis is laid on the character development of the students, this is in no way at the cost of academic excellence. The well-qualified and committed teachers leave no stone unturned to see to it that the outstanding academic excellence record of the school is maintained year after year. The school has been maintaining a 100% pass record with around 90% of them with first division, consistently year after year for two decades now. Around of 60% of students secure 90% and above.

Admission Procedure

The school adopts an open admission policy without any reservations whatsoever. The admission is based purely on adherence to the rules stipulated and the merit acquired by the student. Every year admissions for only class I and XI for both girls and boys takes place.

Online forms to be filled for both the classes in the month of January and to be submitted by Feb 20 of the year admission sought. Incomplete applications are rejected.

Conditions for admission

Class I

The candidates applying for class I should have completed 5 ½ years of age and should be less than 6 ½ years of age by 30th September of the year in which the admission is sought. Relaxation of age is not practiced. The date recorded in the DOB certificate is considered final.

Selection of candidates takes place by random method. Date and time of the lottery will be intimated to the parents.  Preference is given to the staff of Sathya Sai Institutions and Hospitals. Preference is also given to the children of the alumni of Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of higher Learning and also to the children of the members of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation. A candidate could also be rejected based on non compliance with health checkup standards by the school authorities before the admission into the school.

Class XI

The candidates applying for Class XI should be less than 16 ½ years of age. Relaxation of age limit is not practiced. The date of birth recorded in the transfer certificate shall also be accepted.

Request for any change in date of birth at a later date is not entertained. 

Entrance test for class XI is held in the last week of April. Date of written test and interview will be intimated to the selected candidates. Candidates who clear written test will be called for interview. A detail of the entrance syllabus and the question pattern is given in the prospectus.
